Ljubo-Ljupko Petrovic is a former Yugoslavian football player; today a football manager. As a coach and after winning the European Cup in 1991 with Red Star Belgrade, he became an icon in the former Yugoslavian (today Serbia) and in European football history.
Born on 15 May, 1947, in Velika Brusnica, Bosnia and Herzegovina (former Yugoslavia), Petrovic played most of his career for NK Osijek. He's remembered as one of the best players in the late 1970's
and the player who scorred the most goals in NK Osijek's history. After his career at NK Osijek, he spent three years playing in the United States.
As a manager, he has led well known teams from former Yugoslavia such as: NK Osijek Osijek, FK Spartak Subotica, FK Rad Belgrade, FK Vojvodina Novi Sad, and finally Red Star Belgrade, with whom he won the 1991 European Cup.
He has also managed throughout Europe and elsewhere with Spanish league team RCD Espanyol, Uruguayan team C.A. Penarol, Austrian team Grazer AK and Chinese teams Shanghai Shenhua and Beijing Guoan.
He had another two spells at Red Star before moving to Bulgaria in 2000 to coach teams PFC Levski Sofia winning the Bulgarian National Championship and later PFC Litex Lovech where he also won the 2001 National Championship.
In June 2004, and for the third time, he became head coach of Red Star Belgrade.
He has a master's degree in physical education and he currently is a UEFA instructor for coaches aspiring to achieve a UEFA professional license.
He is married to his wife Snezana and has two children; a son Srdjan and daughter Svetlana. He has two grandchildren, Nikola and Anastasia.
